Fortnite is making a return to iOS via the Epic Games Store later this year

Fortnite, the shooting and survival game that has captivated millions of players worldwide, is making a comeback on iOS devices in Europe. The game’s developer, Epic Games, announced that Fortnite will be available for download through the Epic Games Store, the company’s virtual store, later this year.

The news comes as a surprise to Fortnite fans who have been unable to play the game on their iPhones and iPads since 2020 when Apple removed the game from the App Store, the company’s official store. The removal was a result of a legal dispute between Epic Games and Apple, involving fees charged within the game.

Epic Games attempted to circumvent the App Store rules by offering an alternative payment method to Fortnite players, allowing them to purchase in-game items at a discount. Apple considered this a breach of contract and banned the game from its platform.

Now, thanks to a new Apple policy that allows other virtual stores to operate on its devices, Epic Games has managed to bring Fortnite back to iOS, but only in the European Union, where legislation is more favorable to competition. European players will be able to download the game through the Epic Games Store and enjoy all the new features and events.

It is still unknown whether Fortnite will return to the App Store or be available in other regions of the world.
