Fortnite may soon return to iOS devices in the United Kingdom

New legislation may force the App Store to bring the popular Battle Royale game back to the platform.

Following a decision by the European Union that impacted the operations of Apple and Epic Games, the United Kingdom is taking a similar path. New legislation is under discussion in the British Parliament. This measure directly influences the availability of apps on the iOS platform.

The resolution in question prevents Apple from prohibiting software developers from implementing their own payment systems within iOS games. This marks a significant change from the company’s previous policy, which required the use of its special services for transactions, leading to the removal of apps like Fortnite from the App Store.

The popular game Fortnite, known for its Battle Royale format, is expected to return to Apple mobile devices. However, this change will be exclusive to residents of the United Kingdom, where the new digital markets law was recently passed. For other regions, such as North America and Latin America, there are no expected changes, as this is a local decision.
