Instagram tests non-skippable ads on the platform

Users need to watch ads for six seconds before proceeding.

Instagram has begun testing a new ad format that does not allow users to immediately skip them. The ads are being tested in both the Stories section and regular posts on the platform.

According to the report, the ads in question require users to watch a minimum duration of six seconds before they can continue browsing the content.

A representative from Meta, the company that owns Instagram, confirmed the testing. The official statement indicates that the company is constantly innovating ad formats to benefit advertisers. Meta emphasized that if the tests are successful and result in changes to the product, non-skippable ads are likely to be permanently adopted by the platform.

Meta did not provide a specific timeline for the completion of the tests or for potential widespread implementation. It is worth noting that this method of displaying ads is used by Twitch and YouTube.
