After a long wait, Metal Slug Awakening is finally set for a global release. The action game, based on the retro classic, has opened pre-registration on the Google Play Store, App Store, and Steam. The release date is scheduled for July 18, 2024.
Metal Slug Awakening is a shooter and action game based on the series that was initially launched in the 1990s. In 2020, TiMi Studios, the developer of the game, announced their latest project, which was then known as Metal Slug Code: J and was planned for release on PC and mobile devices.
Over the years, the release of Metal Slug Awakening was postponed multiple times until it was launched in late 2023 in Southeast Asia. Now, the game is ready for a global launch.
Metal Slug Awakening follows the same gameplay mechanics as other games in the franchise, with updated graphics and new mechanics added.
This is not the first game in the franchise for mobile devices. In 2014, Metal Slug Defense was released, followed by Metal Slug Attack in 2016. In 2020, a version based on the console games, Metal Slug Commander, was released for mobile devices.
