NetEase Games has started preloading its new game, Operation Apocalypse, in China. Previously called Hyper Front, this online shooter is designed for mobile devices and will be available on both Android and iOS platforms. The game has been in development for several years, with its release delayed multiple times. However, it seems that NetEase Games is now ready to launch, starting with the Chinese market.
Operation Apocalypse is notably inspired by Valorant, the popular game by Riot Games released in 2020. NetEase’s game follows a similar format, with matches involving teams of up to five players. Each player selects a character, each with unique abilities, adding a layer of strategy to the gameplay.
Developed using Unreal Engine 4, Operation Apocalypse gained attention for its use of this technology, which is still uncommon in mobile games. The choice of this graphics engine, usually associated with high-quality games on consoles and PCs.
The preload is currently available only in China, and so far, there is no information about a global release or availability in other regions. According to the Chinese preload page, the game will support the English language, which could indicate a global release very soon.
To install the game, players will need an Android or iOS device with at least 5 GB of free space. Additionally, it is recommended to use devices with Snapdragon 865 or better.
