Russian government will ban officials from using iPhones

Russia will ban the use of iPhones and related devices for public employees.

The Russian government decided to ban the use of iPhones by its officials, claiming that Apple’s devices can be used to collect confidential information. The measure affects the Ministry of Industry and Trade and may extend to other public agencies.

The decision was made after the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) revealed that the National Security Agency of the US (NSA) had exploited security flaws in thousands of iPhones to obtain user data, including Russians. The Russian government fears that iPhones are a tool of espionage by the US.
