Square Enix announces the shutdown of Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius

Square Enix has announced that the mobile version of Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius will be discontinued on October 30, 2024. The game, which was initially released in Japan in 2015 and later launched globally in 2016, will be completely shut down and removed from the Google Play Store and App Store on that date.

The developer did not provide specific reasons for the decision but expressed regret and apologized to the players.

Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius is a turn-based RPG where players have the opportunity to summon characters from the popular Final Fantasy franchise to battle various monsters. The game’s narrative centers on Rain, a young knight from the Kingdom of Grandshelt, who, along with his companions, fights to protect the kingdom from evil forces.

Since its launch, the game has garnered a significant player base, with over 50 million downloads recorded on the Google Play Store.

The Japanese version of the game, released in 2015, will continue to operate, while the global English version will be discontinued. Despite the initial success of the game, which reached 5 million downloads in the first weeks after its release, Square Enix has decided to shut down the global mobile version.

The lack of details regarding the reasons for the shutdown has led to speculation that the decision might be financially motivated, suggesting that the global version may not have met the company’s expectations.
