Netmarble has officially announced that the servers for The King of Fighters All Star will be shut down at the end of 2024. The announcement was made on the game’s official forum. Players will have until October 30, 2024, to continue playing, as the game will be discontinued on that date.
The King of Fighters All Star was released in Japan in 2018, and the global version was launched the following year. The game is based on the classic “The King of Fighters” series, allowing players to create their own teams and compete in various annual tournaments.
Although Netmarble has not disclosed the reasons for ending the game, The King of Fighters All Star faced criticism since its launch. Many users reported optimization issues and crashes on certain devices.
Despite these problems, the game achieved considerable success, amassing millions of downloads on Google Play and the App Store.
Over the years, the game featured numerous collaborations, adding pop culture characters such as WWE fighters like The Rock. One of the most significant collaborations was the addition of characters from Street Fighter, another important fighting game franchise.
In addition to the server shutdown, the in-game store was closed on June 26, 2024. Players can still enjoy the game’s content until the official closure in October, but it will not be possible to make new in-app purchases.
