Apple has agreed to reinstate Epic Games’ developer account, enabling the company to launch its app store on iOS devices in the region. This agreement arises as a direct result of the intervention by the European Commission and the enforcement of the recently approved Digital Marketplace Act (DMA).
The conflict between Apple and Epic Games, which escalated after Apple’s removal of Epic’s developer account, resulted in the removal of games like Fortnite Mobile from the store. Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, confirmed that Apple has committed to restoring the account, as stated in the official announcement on the Epic Games website.
Additionally, the launch of the Epic Games Store on iOS devices is scheduled for 2024. It will offer users the ability to download games and make in-app purchases at no additional cost, thus challenging the App Store’s monopoly in the app market.
