One of the most acclaimed games of this decade, Elden Ring, may receive a mobile version in the future. This is suggested by a report from the Reuters news agency, stating that Tencent, one of the world’s largest gaming companies, is interested in bringing the FromSoftware RPG to mobile phones and tablets.
The report relies on anonymous sources claiming to be familiar with the project but unable to disclose details due to confidentiality. According to them, Tencent is in talks with FromSoftware, the Japanese developer of Elden Ring, and Bandai Namco, the game’s publisher, to acquire distribution rights for the mobile version in China and other markets.
Elden Ring is a dark fantasy game set in a vast world created in collaboration between FromSoftware director Hidetaka Miyazaki and Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin. The game was released in February 2022 for consoles and PC, earning praise from both critics and the public for its challenging gameplay, engaging narrative, and immersive atmosphere.
However, the game is also known for its high hardware requirements and complex design, raising questions about how it would be adapted for the smaller screens and limited controls of mobile devices.
