The mobile game Hyper Front, seen as a substitute for Valorant, has been announced by developer NetEase Games to have all its servers shut down on April 10th. While no specific reasons have been disclosed for the game’s closure, it is speculated that legal actions by Riot Games may have been a determining factor. Riot filed a lawsuit against NetEase in December 2022, accusing the company of plagiarism and committing to removing any game that could rival the upcoming online FPS, Valorant Mobile.
The news took players by surprise, especially those who invested time and money in the game. NetEase Games has not disclosed any information about possible compensation for affected players. With the closure of Hyper Front and the imminent release of Valorant Mobile, Riot Games is becoming increasingly committed to maintaining its lead in the first-person shooter game market and eliminating any potential competition.
