Netflix, known for its movie and series streaming service, is increasingly investing in the gaming market. The company’s Vice President of Games, Mike Verdu, stated that Netflix’s long-term vision is to offer a variety of games to its subscribers and aims to double the number of titles available on its platform by 2024.
In a blog post, Verdu revealed that Netflix launched 40 games in 2023, including adaptations of famous franchises such as Football Manager, Grand Theft Auto, and Stranger Things. Additionally, the company also released its first two original games: Oxenfree II: Lost Signals, a supernatural adventure, and Netflix Stories: Love is Blind, an interactive game based on the reality show.
Verdu mentioned that Netflix has nearly 90 games in development and aims to release over 170 games in 2024. He stated that the company is focused on creating exclusive and portable games that can be played on different devices, such as smartphones, tablets, PCs, and TVs.
